With the advent of time, Pakistan has come across many changes throughout its society. Our living standards have altered for better. One of the major keys to this is our residential areas. Housing societies such as Askari, DHA and Bahria Town, ensure that the lifestyle is on par with the modern needs. The largest of these housing societies is DHA.
DHA was inaugurated on 19 March 1975. It was primarily a residential area for army officers. It is now, however, a home to many rich households including celebrities, political members, businessmen and even foreigners. This area comprises of many prominent markets, cafes, restaurants and cinemas
DHA is divided into different Phases and Sectors. Phase 1 to 7 are the ones with most population, whereas, Phase 8 to 11 are in process of development. Different Phases and Sectors are famous for different reasons. LUMS, Lahore University of Management Sciences, is located here in Sector U. Two of the McDonald’s fast food points are in Phase 3, Sector W and Phase 1, Sector F. The National Hospital, one of the most preferred hospitals in the city, is located in Phase 1, Sector G.
DHA has its own education system as well. It includes Elementary Schools, Primary Schools, High Schools, and Colleges. It is a home to many educational institutes such as LUMS, Ibn-e-Sina College, and Lahore Alma School. Branches of well-known educational institutes such as Lahore Grammar School, Learning Alliance, Beacon House School System and Elite Kids campus, are also located here.
It is said to be one of the most expensive areas in terms of both residence and commercial basis. Residential homes start from Rs 20 million approximately. DHA is quite costly being second only to the Bahria Town in terms of residential area prices. However, the area deserves that much considering the progress it has made in terms of lifestyle and living standards.
